TINT Is Not Tetris(tm)As the title suggests, this is a clone of the original tetris game written by Alexey Pajitnov, Dmitry Pavlovsky, and Vadim Gerasimov. I've tried to keep the game as close to the original as possible, but there are a few differences. Nevertheless, it's probably the closest to the original that you'll ever find in the UNIX world... Package history
This package history is probably out of date (I only update it every now and then). For an up-to-date list of changes, please refer to the package changelog. Why yet another tetris clone? When I installed Linux way back in 1996, one of the first programs I looked for was tetris. I found tetris-bsd, but that was lame: there was no system-wide scoring system (what is the point of competing against yourself?), no colors, the speed settings was different from the original, etc. This frustrated me immensely. Who can work without tetris on his system? Yikes! So, a couple of years later, after toying around with ansi escape codes, I wrote tetris (no idea when this was, but it was probably around 1999). Years later I released it to the public. I had to change the name from tetris to tclassic because the name is a trademark (go figure). Soon after that I changed the name to something more interesting (with the help of some creative Debian maintainers). |
